A proposal to build Killarney's first micro athletic running track, featuring four lanes and an astro turf football pitch is to be built at at St. Brendan's College in Killarney was launced on Monday. The community project will be built in the grounds of the college made famous for its football and is now embracing athletics as a major sport. A special fund raising 10 mile road race around Killarney town was also announced for Saturday September 27th and its is hoped some elite athletes wiull compete in this inaugural event. Pictured at the launch in the school on Monday were, Jerry Griffin, Spa-Muckross, former All-Ireland runner, Arthur Fitzgerald, runner and teacher at the school and Sean Coffey, school principal.
