I chose the swan and her cygnets for my subject as I had seen her the evening before with four of her young; they were the only family in the immediate area. I knew that swans were able to carry their young on their back however I had never actually seen it first hand. I returned the following day only to find she only had three little ones now. I was heartbroken.
