The Cunard liner Lusitania, carrying 1,918 passangers and crew, was hit by a torpedo fired from a German U-boat at 2.00 p.m. on the afternoon of May, 7th., 1915. 764 people survived the sinking. Some of the survivors are pictured at Cobh (Queenstown) shortly after the event. 08/05/1915 Ref. 44
