As we head back to winter, I recalled this photo that i took at the start of the year. The photo was taken on my Samsung S7 phone in the early afternoon of 19th January where the temperature was just above freezing. Taken from the Glenthornan side of Dunlewey Lough looking across at the iconic Errigal Mountain, a symbol of Donegal, the snow-capped mountain was just a glimpse of what was ahead of us for the big freeze of early 2018 that turned the country into a winter wonderland. This photo, while showing the ruggedness of the landscape displays a deceptive warmth in the natural colours and beauty of our country. I haven’t got a fitting caption to capture all the emotions that this photo invokes in me, so I will simply call it after the dominant colours that I see “Green, White and Cold”.
