 Requested by The Echo/MAURICE GUBBINS : The late CQMS Anthony Connolly (RIP) was a past-pupil of North Monastery Secondary School. Anthony was decorated with a Distinguished Service Medal for service above and beyond the call of duty where he remained at his post as a radio operator at an action at Manono Republic of Congo 1960 for 24 hours.
As a past pupil of the North Monastery the Past Pupils Union have decided to erect a photograph and copy of citation awarded to Anthony at North Monastery Secondary School on Wednesday 16th Octobe 2109. The unveiling was carried out by (left) Barry Hill, President, Past Pupils Union, Tracy Connolly, daughter of Anthony Connolly and (right) Col. Tim Daly, Exec Officer 1st Southern Brigade, Collins Barracks Cork.
