Volunteer Deirdre Hourihane. Here she shows one the of the the 3D printed 'headbands'.
The assemblyis by volunteers working at Garryduff Sports Club, Co Cork. A network of (home-based) people are using their 3D printers to print the 'headband' items, which are then collected and transported for final assembly with protective 'acetate sheets' for use by frontline healthcare workers in the battle against Covid-19 coronavirus.
Approx 100 volunteers are involved in the making of the items for the HSE with 10,000 shields to be delivered in approx 4 weeks.
