The 4metre high 'CityTrees' on St Patrick's Street, Cork City are described as pieces of smart street furniture. Using Internet of Things (IOT) technology, they contain panels covered in a mixture of moss cultures that filter harmful pollutants out of the air. The Lord Mayor Cllr Colm Kelleher launched the Cork City Council Innovative Air Quality Strategy 2021-2026, pictured here with Frank O'Flaherty and Donal Scanlon as they rest on the seats. The 'robotrees' also have information panels and electronic screen displays. 'Moss traps and eats fine dust'. Pic: Larry Cummins
