The first six islanders to be evacuated are all smiles on their arrival in Dingle. Legend has it that Ó Guithín is carrying an RMS Lusitania deckchair that washed up on the island sometime after the ship’s sinking off Kinsale by Germany in 1915 with the loss of 1,195 lives.
