The Freedom of the City of Cork being conferred on John Bermingham PC (left) by Ald. James A. Corr at the City Hall 'in appreciation of his remarkable contribution to the personal growth of persons with mild and profound mental handicaps'. He ws a founding member of the Cork Polio After Care Association in 1957 he was continuously involved in directing and expanding the role of that Association, which today is known as the COPE Foundation 24/5/1997 Ref.
