Midleton Artists Frame a New Festival Jam Packed with Family Entertainment and Creative Zeal.
.
A group of like-minded locals from Midleton in East Cork have come together to create an event that celebrates local community, art and the artists who produce it. The Midleton Mid-May Festival will take place on Friday 16th, Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th of May 2014.
.
The festival is a grass roots community initiative that aims to shine a light on all of the brilliant art and inspiring artists in the Midleton area.
.
With the view of the arts as a community resource, the theme of the festival is the recovery and renewal of community. Organisers are working closely with the entire community, including local politicians, businesses, voluntary groups and community organisations, to collectively create something outstanding for Midleton and the surrounding area. A whole host of free events and activities are planned, including exhibitions, film screenings, poetry readings, workshops and a Family Fun Day to close the weekend.
.
Chairperson of the Festival Roslin Treacy said: ÒThere are a number of ways Midleton people can get involved. Firstly as artists, let us know what you can do, we want to hear about it. We want you to join in. So far the festival has five interdependent projects - fine art, crafts, music, film and literature. So come and visit an exhibition, listen to some buskers, go to a gig, see the craft work, watch a film, go to a book or poetry
