PRESS RELEASE; STARTS....Marymount University Hospital & Hospice is an integral part of the community. Since our move from Wellington Road in September 2011 we have established a particularly wonderful link with our neighbours Ballinora National School. Each Spring following on from receiving their confirmation, the 6th class pupils help Marymount by partaking in gardening tasks with a great energy that brings an added joy and warmth to our facility in Curraheen. Each year the children organise fundraising events and they each donate a portion of their confirmation money to help purchase flowers and plants for the Hospital & Hospice. In particular our tear drop raised beds which are overlooked by the patient rooms are hugely enhanced.
Since the Summer of 2013, Marymount University Hospital & Hospice has hosted the 6th class pupils and the buzz and laughter heard on the days of their arrival is so uplifting for patients and staff. The pupils take so much pride in the meaningful contribution that they make during these months. Often when the children are on summer holidays and are preparing for secondary school, they also visit to water and weed their flower beds on a regular basis.
The contribution and collaboration with Ballinora NS is so much appreciated in Marymount. Not only have they contributed financially, but the work they have done has enhanced the gardens for patients, which otherwise would not have been achieved due to a lack of resources. On behalf of all in Marymount, we thank you all in Ballinora NS sincerely. ENDS
