Group photo at the Laneway Gallery, Shandon Street, Cork for the handover of money following the end of the exhibition, Me and my Camera' a collection of photographs taken by Peter D Hayes. Noreen Reardon of The Irish Cancer Society received a donation of €3,500 from Peter D Hayes, with Geoff Spiers and Mary C Scannell, co-proprietors of The Laneway Gallery. An amateur photographer who in his own words is 'Just an ordinary bloke with a camera'. The images in this collection are from here and there, from the rugged coast of South Africa to East Cork and beyond. 'From his eye to yours' this is his view of the places and things he has seen over the last couple of years. This exhibition is being held not only to showcase Peter's work but also to help The Cancer Society of Ireland. Peter was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2022 and while the aim was to cure him, he has unfortunately progressed to Stage 4 cancer which is incurable. All proceeds from the sale of his work were donated to the Cancer Society of Ireland. (Words from Laneway Gallery website) Pic Larry Cummins
