20160522 kerry may16 cont Leaving Ballycarbery Castle I drove onto the bridge over estuary in Caherciveen where I saw this magnificent steel railway bridge. Bridge was in use from 1893 till 1960 and it was part of the Great Southern and Western Railway running service between Farranfore (half way between Killarney and Tralee) and Valentia Harbour.

DSC3266 It was the end of January start of February 2016 that I decided to take this image I've had in mind for ages. I wanted the cross on Bray head to be light up by the first rays of sunlight. I had to climb higher to get the cross and Bray sea front in the image. I waited for over an hour in biting cold easterly winds, and was rewarded with the image. Brian J Kelly.

Emperor Dragonflies mating Was watching a female emperor dragonfly skitting about over a pond near Ardmore when she was suddenly joined by a male. Clasped together they alighted on a tree nearby. Had to balance myself over some scrub and gorse overhanging a ravine to get some shots. Used flash to illuminate the shadows a little, the reflection of the sinking sun creating hexagonal shapes in their eyes.
