Diarmuid Higgins, is Secretary, Cobh Branch ONE and Chairman, Southern Area Council of ONE. On Sunday Diarmuid Higgins will become the National President, ONE and the local Cobh branch will celebrate the official opening of the welfare offices and five apartments 'Bru na Farraige' at Cobh, Co Cork. Brú na Farraige will be formally opened on Sunday by Minister Simon Coveney, and the newly appointed Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Seán Clancy will also be in attendance.  VIDEO available....North Monastery Secondary School 6th year pupil Eric Sheehan designed the artwork 'Everything Old is New Again' during his Transition year at the school. The sculptor Sean MacCarthy created the piece commemorating the three past pupils and former Lord's Mayor Donal O'Sullivan, Terrence McSwiney and Tomas MacCurtain. The sculpure was to be officially unveiled by President Michael D. Higgins but it has been delayed due to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. The finished sculpture remained under black plastic for much of the school year last year but his now been shown off in recent weeks in the entrance hallway of the northside school.
